‘Phenomenal’ – Sky Sports pundit fires West Brom warning in PL promotion race
David Prutton has fired West Brom and Leeds United a warning as the race for automatic promotion in the Championship gathers pace.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that Brentford could win all of their remaining games this season, something which would put great pressure on the top two.
Brentford are currently five points behind the Baggies after winning their first three games after the Championship restart.
Prutton claimed that it would be a phenomenal run for the Bees to do that, but that Thomas Frank’s men are capable.
“That’s something for them to contend with but Brentford are keeping Leeds and West Brom honest,” he wrote for the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Between now and the end of the season they have got to be very wary of who is tearing up behind them and if there is to be somebody to break into the top two between now and the end of the season, then it feels like Brentford could be the ones to do it.
“The Bees will have won 10 games in a row if they take maximum points between now and the end of the season and that would be a phenomenal run.”
West Brom got the win they so desperately needed on Wednesday night at Hillsborough, in the 3-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday.
If the Baggies would have lost and Brentford dispatched Wigan on Saturday, they would have been third going into their clash against Hull on Sunday.
Prediction expert Nate Silver is still backing Albion though, claiming they have an 83% chance of earning promotion this season, compared to Brentford’s 62% [FiveThirtyEight].
