Prediction expert shares probability of West Brom earning promotion after 4-2 win v Hull

West Brom made it a perfect week in the Championship on Sunday afternoon, sweeping aside Hull City 4-2.

The Baggies kept their five-point gap to Brentford in third after the Bees, Leeds and Fulham all won on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Charlie Austin, Ahmed Hegazi, Kamil Grosicki and Grady Diangana sealed all three points in the end-to-end clash at the Hawthorns.

West Brom went one point behind Leeds with this win and could go top of the Championship if they beat Derby County next time out.

The Baggies have been named as one of the most likely to drop out of the automatic promotion spots if Brentford continue this run, but Sunday’s performance could have silenced the doubters.

Slaven Bilic will be telling his squad to take it game-by-game with only five remaining this month, and each win is one step closer to the Premier League.

Prediction expert, Nate Silver, has claimed that West Brom now stand an 83% chance of earning promotion this season.

On his website, FiveThirtyEight, Silver also claimed that the Baggies stand a 27% chance of lifting the title – with Leeds still heavy favourites.

Leeds most likely stand a better chance of promotion due to their so-called easier run-in with five games to go.

Marcelo Bielsa’s squad still have to welcome Stoke, Barnsley and Charlton to Elland Road and they’re all in relegation trouble.

Compare that to the Baggies and they still have the likes of Fulham, Blackburn and Derby – much tougher fixtures.

Still, 83% chance of promotion sounds brilliant to us, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves and keep picking up wins.
