Reliable journo suggests West Brom ace could be ruled out for rest of season
West Brom could be without Kieran Gibbs for the rest of the season after being spotted limping at The Hawthorns on Sunday, according to Steve Madeley.
Gibbs, 30, was substituted off in the first half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury as the Baggies won 4-2 over Hull this weekend.
The Athletic journalist Madeley spotted Gibbs after the match, saying that he saw the former Arsenal left-back limping across the pitch.
Based on the injury issues he’s had with his hamstring this season, the reporter has questioned whether or not we will see the ex-England international again this term.
It is certainly something for West Brom fans and Slaven Bilic to worry about.
Gibbs is a top left-back and one of the best as what he does in the Championship.
However his injury issues are a massive concern as he’s played just 15 times in all competitions this season and completed 90 minutes in the league on just seven occasions.
Of course, West Brom’s league position suggests they have not missed Gibbs too much and Conor Townsend’s form suggests he is more than capable of stepping in for the remaining games.
We would rather have Gibbs at left-back but the Baggies back-four looks nicely balanced with Townsend at left-back and Dara O’Shea at right-back.
We’ll see how they cope against Derby in a massive fixture this week.
