Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will secure a narrow win over Derby County on Wednesday.
The Baggies have won their last two matches to keep themselves five points clear of Brentford in third while Derby have been making a bid to win a spot in the play-offs by winning 10 points out of the last 12 available to them.
The Rams are in good form but Prutton believes that Slaven Bilic’s men will post too much of a challenge and tips them to win 1-0 this week.
“It’s been a brilliant response to the pressure from Brentford by West Brom, who have won their last two to keep that five-point cushion. They are still firm favourites for automatic promotion and a win here would go a long, long way to securing their return to the Premier League,” Prutton wrote on the Sky Sports website.
“Derby were a little disappointing in terms of their performance against Nottingham Forest at the weekend and their winning run is over. But the way they grabbed that last-minute point still would have been huge for morale. It will be tight, but I think the Baggies sneak this one.”
West Brom have rediscovered their form in the last two matches.
They have scored seven goals – with Matheus Pereira being involved in five of them – and have looked more than comfortable in their performances.
At this stage of the season, it is results that matter and due to the club’s poor recent history against Derby, we are a bit nervous about this match.
Albion have won just one of their last seven encounters with the East Midlands outfit.
That record must improve on Wednesday if they want to maintain their gap to third and keep up the pressure on league leaders Leeds.
In other West Brom news, Albion fans want the club to sign this free agent who has been capped by England.
