Portuguese newspaper details update on Matheus Pereira permanent switch to West Brom
West Brom have just six months to pay off the permanent transfer fee of Matheus Pereira, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
Pereira, 24, joined Albion on a season-long loan last summer but the move is now set to be made permanent with the Brazilian earning over 30 Championship starts for the Baggies.
It is understood he is going to sign a four-year contract at The Hawthorns but Albion only have until the end of the year to pay off the £8.5million transfer fee.
When big-money transfers are agreed, clubs usually end up spreading out their payments into instalments over a year or two.
But, in this instance, Albion have to pay up the entire fee for Pereira by the start of next year.
It seems that this is the only caveat to what has been an outstanding piece of business by West Brom.
They are getting a top-quality, Premier League-level player for just £9million in total who has played a key role in helping them be where they are right now in the Championship.
In the league this season, Pereira has scored eight goals and supplied 19 assists in 37 appearances.
He is undeniable the best attacking midfielder in the Championship and the deal West Brom have agreed with Sporting CP is an absolute bargain.
Who cares if it all has to be paid up by the end of the year? Sporting are still on the rough end of this agreement.
In other West Brom news, an international player linked with the Baggies could be up for grabs for just £1.5milion.
