‘They would be open’ – E&S journo delivers verdict on West Brom chances of re-signing Diangana
West Ham would potentially be open to allowing Grady Diangana join West Brom on loan again next season, according to the Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season at The Hawthorns, and has consistently been a standout performer for the Baggies – registering seven goals and six assists in the Championship this term.
A recent report from The Sun suggested that both Celtic and Ajax are keeping tabs on the wide man, with his parent club valuing him at around £15 million.
But that valuation might not spell the end of Albion’s hopes of retaining Diangana’s services next term.
Speaking on the Baggies Broadcast podcast, Masi made reference to discussions held between the two clubs back in January.
He said: “They held talks with West Ham about keeping him for next season as well on loan.
“Obviously that deal wasn’t done, but they weren’t put off, and from what I gather, West Ham basically said to them, ‘if you get up, we would be interested in sending Diangana back out on loan to you because we’d like him to play regularly in the Premier League for a year before coming back to us’.
“There was that indication from West Ham that they would be open, potentially, to letting Diangana come back on loan or definitely sending Diangana out on loan to a Premier League side next season.”
Dare we dream?
There are still a lot of hurdles to be overcome here – not least the fact that we would almost certainly need to win promotion before a deal could even be considered.
But assuming that we can secure a spot in the top flight next term, we would surely all love to see Diangana back at Albion next term.
The winger has been dazzling at times this season, so much so that Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie described him as “magnificent, easy on the eye and a massive plus point for West Brom” this term.
Who wouldn’t want a player like that for another season?
In other West Brom news, Albion have been tipped to sign this Man United player on a £37,500-a-week loan deal.
