‘Exceptional’ – Sky Sports pundit singles out West Brom talent who is ‘Premier League quality’
Chris Powell has heaped praise on West Brom loanee Grady Diangana, claiming that the wide man is an “exceptional player”.
The 22-year-old has registered seven goals and six assists since arriving on a temporary deal from West Ham at the beginning of the season.
And while he couldn’t find the net in Albion’s 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town on Thursday evening the winger’s influence has not been wasted on Powell.
Speaking on Sky Sports‘ coverage of the Huddersfield clash (Sky Sports Main Event, 5pm, July 17th), he said: “He [Diangana] is an exceptional player.
“I’m sure West Ham are thinking ‘we could do with him in our team in the Premier League’.
“He can drift past players, and he has an end product. He has really blossomed this year, and he’s become a key player. He’s Premier League quality. He always seems to be there.
“Blended with Pereira, West Brom have got some real quality.”
Powell is spot on here.
Diangana has been a standout performer all season long, and his presence at The Hawthorns will be sorely missed if he does leave the club for good this summer.
That outcome isn’t a certainty, however, with Express and Star journalist Joe Masi suggesting that his parent club could be open to the prospect of another loan deal if the Baggies can secure promotion.
Let’s hope that is the case, because the wide man has been dazzling at times this season.
In fact, he’s been so good that it’s little surprise that Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie has hailed the speedster as a “magnificent” talent.
Albion’s promotion hopes are still very much in the balance, but if they do go up this term, they will surely have to give huge thanks to Diangana for his sizeable contribution.
