‘Huge loss’, ‘Shock horror’ – Many West Brom fans react as player is ruled out of clash v QPR

West Brom fans seem divided by the news that Kieran Gibbs will play no part in the Baggies’ decisive fixture against QPR on Wednesday.

Slaven Bilic’s need to win that match in order to confirm their automatic promotion to the Premier League as Championship runners-up. Anything less than a victory at The Hawthorns and Albion could be beaten to the second-place finish by Brentford or Fulham.

It is the biggest league match that West Brom have had to play in a very long time but they will have to get through it without left-back Gibbs.

The 30-year-old has had a frustrating season that has been ravaged by injuries.

Across all competitions, the former Arsenal full-back has made just 15 appearances, with his last one coming against Hull on July 5 when he was forced off with his latest hamstring injury.

Speaking ahead of the clash against QPR on Wednesday, Bilic confirmed that Gibbs will be unavailable once again and that has led to a lot of chatter among Baggies fans.

Some think that missing Gibbs would be a “huge loss” to the side while others have mocked the left-back for his woeful injury record.

One fan has even urged Albion to “get rid” of the 10-times England international.

Gibbs’ absence means that Conor Townsend is bound to start again at left-back but his form has not been anywhere near as good since the restart as it was before it.

No matter what happens to West Brom on Wednesday, they will need to sign themselves a new left-back before next season starts.
