‘Not forthcoming’ – Reliable journalist shares insight into WBA investment from Guochuan Lai

There have been a number of stories surrounding the ownership of Guochuan Lai at West Brom recently, with growing tension between China and the United Kingdom.

Professor Simon Chadwick, an expert of Eurasian Sport, reported that China has announced that Premier League fixtures will no longer be aired by CCTV despite them still holding the broadcasting rights.

Stan Collymore even went as far as to suggest that the businessman could look to sell the Baggies with nearly a month left until the Premier League kicks off.

So, how will that affect the Baggies in the transfer window this summer? It is suggested that it could have a knockdown effect.

The Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi has reported that significant investment from Guochuan will not be given to Slaven Bilic, potentially limiting his work in the market.

“The Baggies have set what they believe is a competitive transfer budget,” he wrote.

“But with significant investment from owner Lai Guochuan not forthcoming, they can’t match the sums Villa and Fulham shelled out when they were recently promoted to the Premier League.”

Baggies fans have not been expecting the club to be spending huge amounts of money, but for no significant investment to be coming in is majorly disappointing.

Luke Dowling has admitted that the Albion will not be able to spend the same amount of money that Aston Villa have, but it will be more similar to what Sheffield United spent.

That is still upwards of £50million, although this latest update seems to contradict that as surely that would count as significant investment.

Time will tell, but at least we can all expect the Baggies to spend more than Norwich did last season, although that wouldn’t be very hard.
