‘Laughable’, ‘God help us’ – These West Brom fans react to reported transfer update
Some West Brom fans are feeling rather uneasy after Football Insider reported that Slaven Bilic has been handed a transfer budget of £25m.
He has been told that any other money will have to come from player sales.
Now, spending money isn’t a guarantee of staying in the top flight. Fulham famously spent a huge amount of money before getting relegated in the 18/19 season.
Aston Villa just about stayed up on the last day of the season, despite spending over £100m on new players.
The summer transfer market has also been hit after clubs lost revenue because of playing games behind closed doors.
However, there are plenty of West Brom fans who are fearing the worst, with one saying, “Well the stay in the premier league could be short!!! Investment is the key not the greed of the foreign owner!!!”
To give you some idea of the state of the market, Brentford want £25m each for their attackers Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins.
If Bilic’s budget is correct, he could buy one of those and that would be it.
We’ve still got faith in Bilic and we’re sure he can find some quality players at a bargain price. But we hope this budget doesn’t backfire on the Baggies.
