View: Journalist tips Diangana for West Ham starting spot in bad news for West Brom
It has been made no secret that West Brom and Slaven Bilic would welcome Grady Diangana back to the Hawthorns with open arms.
The Baggies boss has been a massive fan of the young winger ever since their time together at West Ham United.
Diangana set the Championship alight last season, leading to the Baggies being linked with a permanent switch.
It was reported by the Daily Mail that Diangana wanted first-team assurances from the Irons, with West Brom waiting to pounce if they weren’t given.
The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas could have cast further serious doubt over any potential exit for the winger in his latest update.
“Diangana has been one of the best performers in pre-season and it would be hard to picture another player starting on the left flank come the first day of the season,” he wrote.
This is the worst possible outcome for West Brom from this pre-season chance that Diangana has been given by David Moyes.
The Sun claimed in July that West Ham valued the 22-year-old at £15million – something that has most likely increased given recent performances.
West Brom did offer around £20million for Eberechi Eze recently before he joined Crystal Palace, so the money was there for the Baggies to target Diangana if they wanted too.
Moyes will clearly have been delighted with Diangana’s form, and Thomas claiming that he is all-but-set to start against Newcastle could be the final nail in the coffin for any Albion switch.
Options are running out for Bilic and with less than two weeks to go until the Premier League kicks off, this is another option we could cross off our shortlist.
