West Brom open talks over 19-goal striker – Sky Sports journalist
West Brom have been interested in Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant for a number of months now.
Rob Dorsett has reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday that the Baggies have now opened talks between the two clubs.
The Sky Sports journalist claims that the Terriers and Carlos Corberan are asking for £16million for the 22-year-old.
What does Grant think about this?
The Athletic have previously reported that the striker would be more than open to holding talks with the Baggies over a move.
It was suggested in that same report that Grant was identified as a “more cost-effective alternative” to Brentford’s Ollie Watkins.
West Brom have been in for the 22-year-old previously, so they have certainly had a long-term interest in the former Charlton man.
Slaven Bilic is in the market for a new striker, with Hal Robson-Kanu and Charlie Austin both classed as older players with question marks over their Premier League abilities.
A number of different options have been thrown around, with Watford’s Troy Deeney a possible option at the Hawthorns.
The Telegraph have reported that the veteran forward has been offered to the Baggies in a loan deal, with his £65,000-a-week wages surely too much of a risk.
Grant, is much younger and has been more prolific in recent years. The 22-year-old scored 19 goals in all competitions last season and would be a much-great long-term addition compared to Deeney.
It appears that Bilic agrees.
