‘Great signing’ – talkSPORT pundit excited after major West Brom update on ‘unbelievable’ player
talkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair has hailed Grady Diangana as an “unbelievable talent” as West Brom home in on a permanent deal for the winger.
The 22-year-old hit eight goals and seven assists as Slaven Bilic’s men finished second to get promoted from the Championship last season.
And several sources have now reported that a fee has now been agreed with West Ham.
On the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (12.43pm), it was said: “Diangana has been given permission to speak to West Brom, who want to sort out the deal before the new season starts as there are other Premier League clubs who remain interested.”
Sky reporter Rob Dorsett said that the fee could “raise as high as £18m, I’m told. Which would be a West Brom club-record fee.”
Talking on the White & Sawyer Show (talkSPORT, Tuesday, 12.50pm), Trevor Sinclair said, “Diangana is a top-class player. It’s a great, great signing for West Brom.
“I’m pleased for Slaven as he was such a key player for them last season.
“They’ve got a ready-made player there, he’s an unbelievable talent and I’m really excited to see him play in the Premier League for West Brom.”
Very exciting deal
West Brom fans have had to be patient this summer but they’re extremely excited by this news – and rightly so.
Diangana was a massive part of our promotion push last season and getting him for a fee of between £12m (John Percy) and £18m is a serious coup.
As one fan said, “Never thought we’d break our record this season.”
There’s still work to be done and we’re going to be more circumspect than Sinclair.
It doesn’t appear that West Ham see a future in East London for Diangana but until the deal is done then other Premier League clubs could come in – especially at this price.
The Baggies obviously have the upper hand. Diangana knows he’ll get first-team football at The Hawthorns and he obviously enjoys working with Bilic.
In other news, the Baggies have reportedly bid £17million for this attacker.
