Report – PL club plot rival bid after West Brom have offer accepted for 22y/o
Fulham are considering hijacking West Brom’s bid to sign Grady Diangana, according to the Daily Star.
As per John Percy of The Telegraph, the Baggies had a bid accepted by West Ham for the winger on Wednesday and are looking to wrap up a permanent deal to take him back to The Hawthorns.
Diangana enjoyed a hugely influential season in the midlands last term, scoring eight goals and assisting seven more in their Championship promotion push.
But it is understood that fellow promoted side Fulham are weighing up a rival bid that could derail Albion’s deal for the 22-year-old.
Scott Parker’s men would reportedly be willing to match the £12 million plus add-ons that West Brom have had accepted for the player, with a package that would total around £18 million.
Aston Villa are also said to be keen on the wide man, but the report suggests that they are much less likely to pull the trigger on a concrete bid.
Any kind of rival bid for Diangana is always going to get hearts racing.
The West Ham talent endeared himself hugely to the Baggies fanbase last season, and we would all love to see him back in an Albion shirt in the top flight.
But it is also understandable that there are other clubs sniffing around him too.
You would assume that if West Ham have accepted one bid of £18 million, including add-ons, they wouldn’t be averse to accepting another.
In that instance, things would ultimately rest with the player himself.
And given a straight choice between a return to West Brom and a move across the capital to play for Fulham, you would like to think that Diangana would choose the Baggies.
He knows the club, the fanbase adore him, and in Slaven Bilic, he would have a boss who has managed at the very highest level.
If it comes down to it, let’s just hope that he makes the right choice.
