‘Massive overreaction’ – talkSPORT pundit: West Ham have better end of Diangana deal
talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has claimed that West Ham have got the better end of the deal as West Brom close in on Grady Diangana.
The Baggies have agreed a club-record £18million fee for the exciting winger this week, as he closes in on a move back to the Hawthorns.
It has been suggested that he will complete his medical on Friday, after agreeing personal terms with the club he spent last season on loan at.
Cascarino admitted there has been too much made about the deal and believes that it is a superb deal for the Hammers.
“It’s a massive overreaction,” he said on talkSPORT.
“To a player that was sent out on loan and his contract ends in 2025, so there’s a situation here.
“If you argued in two years time, the lad does brilliantly at West Brom, scores loads of goals, creates and goes for £40 or £50million – West Ham are in a fantastic position.
“They’ve got £18million in for a guy, they could easily put a contract together where they can say, we can have a first buy-back clause on him and if there’s any profit we’ll take part of that as well.
“This deal should absolutely suit West Ham.”
It seems strange for Cascarino to be going against what the West Ham fans believe, with their opinion surely having more meaning.
The fact that almost every single fan at the London Stadium is gutted with the decision to accept this offer proves that the Baggies could have sealed a bargain.
Slaven Bilic is a huge fan of Diangana and we trust the big Croatian rather than Cascarino who will have stirred a few pots with this latest valuation.
