Reliable journalist: Championship side in hunt to sign West Brom striker on permanent deal
Journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that Kenneth Zohore could be on his way out of West Brom in the near future.
Zohore, 26, has been linked with a number of Championship clubs in recent weeks, with a few clubs enquiring about loan deals for the Danish striker, with Middlesbrough making an offer last week.
Nixon, The Sun's transfer expert, was asked on Twitter if he knew if there was anything in the rumours that Zohore is a target for Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
He responded, "Yes. As a buy".
The significance of Nixon's response is the detail that the Owls want to take Zohore on a permanent deal. This would suit West Brom more than a loan deal, adding valuable cash to their transfer kitty.
Zohore notched five goals in 20 appearances for the Baggies last season, and some Championship clubs clearly see him as a valuable asset.
His best goal scoring season came at Cardiff in 2016/17, where he managed 12 goals in 29 appearances, Sheffield Wednesday will hope he can recapture that form if he does indeed move to Hillsborough.
Zohore only signed for West Brom last summer, signing from Cardiff for £8m, but he has not done enough for us to think he could be a valuable asset in the Premier League.
Signing a striker is the priority for the Baggies, with Athletic journalist Steve Madeley reporting that it is 'inconceivable' that Slaven Bilic will start the season without a new striker available to him.
With Zahore looking likely to leave, this suggests Slaven Bilic does not consider him good enough for top-flight football.
