Report – West Brom target ‘desperate’ to join sign for Baggies
West Brom target Karlan Grant is “desperate” to join the Baggies, according to the Daily Mail.
The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley has reported that the 22-year-old is Slaven Bilic’s number one priority in the current transfer window as he looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.
There have been positive signs that some kind of deal could in the pipeline between the Baggies and Huddersfield Town too, with Grant taking to Twitter recently to urge fans to “always trust the process”.
But the Mail has reported that the Terriers are refusing to budge over their £17 million valuation of the player.
West Brom are yet to match that price.
And it is understood that the club’s stubbornness is beginning to frustrate Grant, who is eager to a secure a move to The Hawthorns to compete in the top flight this coming season.
This is bittersweet for West Brom fans.
On the one hand, to hear that Grant is “desperate” to sign can only be a good thing, and a transfer is alway going to be made a lot easier if the player himself is keen for it to go through.
On the other, the fact that Huddersfield are unwilling to to budge on their valuation of the player suggests that there is still some distance left to run on this one.
Either way, you would hope that West Brom won’t miss out on their man for the sake of a couple of million pounds here or there.
Signing a striker has to be a priority in the final weeks of the transfer window, and landing the right one could be the difference between relegation and survival this season.
In other West Brom news, a loan offer has been tabled for this in-demand Baggies 26-year-old.
