West Brom in talks over 26-year-old exit on season-long loan – report

West Brom are in talks with Sheffield Wednesday over a potential season-long loan move for Albion striker Kenneth Zohore, according to YorkshireLive.

The news outlet reports that Middlesbrough are also “big admirers” of the 26-year-old forward, who joined the Baggies from Cardiff for £8million last summer.

Although Zohore was West Brom’s most-expensive signing in the Championship, the Dane managed to start just five league fixtures last season and scored five goals in his 20 appearances across all competitions.

Zohore’s lack of impact at The Hawthorns has led to reports saying that he has been deemed as surplus to requirements by Slaven Bilic.

YorkshireLive reports that West Brom are open to letting the goal-shy striker leave but Sheffield Wednesday are only keen on a season-long loan deal as it stands.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon had previously reported that the Owls wanted to sign Zohore permanently, but the local media is suggesting that is not the case.

Of course, West Brom fans would prefer to see Zohore taken off the books on a full-time basis but after spending so much money on him last summer and handing him a four-year contract, we accept that might not be so easy.

At least if Zohore goes out on loan, he might be able to rediscover his form in the Championship at a club where the expectations are not so high.

He might then return to the Black Country next summer with clubs who want to sign him permanently so a loan deal could work out if Zohore shines at Hillsborough.
