Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is set to sign for West Brom on loan, according to Football London.
The youngster impressed during temporary stints with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City last term, and has looked destined for a move to top flight for much of this summer.
A number of clubs have been linked with him, including Leeds United, who were said to be keen on a permanent transfer.
The Baggies look to have won the race for his signature, however, with the 20-year-old on the cusp of penning a new deal at Stamford Bridge before making a move to The Hawthorns.
The deal is expected to be wrapped up in the next couple of days.
This would be fantastic business from Albion, and something of a coup too.
Gallagher has been in demand this summer, and looked as if he was all set to sign for Crystal Palace.
However, Premier League rules state that a club cannot sign more than one player on loan from another top flight club, and the arrival of Michy Batshuayi at Selhurst Park put the kibosh on Gallagher’s proposed switch.
In terms of what he can offer Albion, the youngster is a high energy attacking midfield talent who can provide a real goal threat on the front foot.
Last season, for example, he averaged a dribble success rate that was 7.1% higher than Baggies loanee Filip Krovinovic’s, as well as a shot accuracy rate that was superior by 9.4%, as per Wyscout.
With this latest report, it looks as if we have won the race for his services, and honestly, we’re absolutely delighted.
