West Brom fan are delighted with Rob Dorsett’s claim that the Baggies are closing in on a deal to sign Conor Gallagher on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
According to the Sky Sports journalist, the 20-year-old will sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge before being allowed to exit on a temporary basis to The Hawthorns.
It is understood that the Baggies “moved quickly” to strike a deal for the England Under-21s midfielder after a move to Crystal Palace fell through.
#wba close to a loan deal with #cfc for Conor Gallagher. He will sign new long term contract with Chelsea before signing up with Bilić for the season. Albion moved quickly when deal with #cpfc fell through – they went for Batshuayi instead, and can only do 1 loan with same club.

Palace’s loss appears to be Albion’s gain with Slaven Bilic finally set to strengthen his central midfield options.
Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore started almost every Championship match alongside each other in the heart of Bilic’s system last season and it was the same again at the weekend as West Brom lost 3-0 to Leicester at The Hawthorns.
Neither midfielder impressed and it’s not as though Bilic has any other options in that area of the pitch other than youngsters Rekeem Harper and Sam Field, who was on loan at Charlton with Gallagher last term.
One West Brom fans said that Gallagher is “better than Sawyers and Livermore” after seeing Dorsett’s update on the young Chelsea ace while plenty of other supporters aired their delight at the news.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

It remains to be seen how long it takes for Gallagher’s move to become official but we would hope it’s announced by the end of the week so he can be in the squad for the trip to Everton.
In other West Brom news, three players could earn their Albion debuts against Harrogate this week.
