Spanish club look to hijack West Brom move as Bilic outlines response – report

West Brom and their pursuit of Benfica playmaker Filip Krovinovic looks set to continue long into the transfer window.

Slaven Bilic has made it no secret that the Croatian remains one of his main transfer priorities at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on Thursday, but negotiations remain ongoing for Krovinovic.

The Athletic’s Steve Madeley claimed that the two clubs are still “playing poker” over terms for the deal, with neither side folding as of yet.

Madeley also shared on his personal Twitter account that Spanish club Getafe are the latest side to join the race for the 25-year-old.

Bilic responded to the links with Krovinovic earlier this week and claimed that he would be “very disappointed” if he didn’t get his man.

The Baggies are wanting to bring in Krovinovic and one striker to complete their summer business, although it isn’t proving to be straight forward.

How close are the Baggies to Krovinovic?

One of the latest udpates claimed that the Croatian was training seperately to his teammates in Portugal and Record shared that the Baggies are looking for a loan-to-buy deal.

The Baggies are said to be unimpressed with the £9million valuation, and have instead proposed a £5.4million obligation to buy next summer.

Benfica are equally as frustrated with that proposal and West Brom may need to raise their offer to avoid missing out on the 25-year-old.

The Baggies could be set for a breakthrough though, with Benfica missing out on Champions League football, meaning they could need to sell players in order to balance their books.

Bilic and the Albion need to take advantage of that, and we could see more movement in the coming days.
