Kieran Gibbs sends Twitter message to West Brom fans after red card v Everton
Kieran Gibbs has apologised to West Brom fans after being sent off in the 5-2 defeat away at Everton on Saturday.
Just before half-time, Everton went 2-1 up through James Rodriguez before Gibbs, 31, raised his hands to the Colombian attacker’s face.
Mike Dean didn’t hesitate in sending the left-back off while Slaven Bilic’s protests also saw him sent to the stands by the referee.
Gibbs has now taken to social media to reach out the Albion supporters, who were furious with the former Arsenal man on Saturday.
Writing via his personal Twitter account, Gibbs said: “I take full responsibility for today’s game.
“I let the team and supporters down with a moment of stupidity.
“I have always tried to play the game fairly and will make sure I keep disciplined when provoked. I should not have reacted and for that, I apologise.”

We’re happy that Gibbs has come out to apologise but the damage has been done now.
Not only will West Brom be without their best left-back for matches against Brentford, Chelsea and Southampton, they also slumped to a humiliating defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Gibbs was sent off moments after Everton took the lead but before that, Bilic’s side were on top for large periods and had several chances to score on top of Grady Diangana’s brilliant solo effort.
Gibbs even played brilliantly himself so we just cannot understand what happened for him to do that to Rodriguez.
But, based on Gibbs’ tweet, he might have been provoked by the new Everton star.
In other West Brom news, Bilic confirmed an injury blow to one of his players after the win against Harrogate.
