West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has confirmed he expects Filip Krovinovic to be back at The Hawthorns by the end of the week.
Krovinovic, 25, spent last season on loan with the Baggies as they won promotion to the Premier League and it has been widely reported that Bilic has been making efforts to re-sign the midfielder ever since that loan deal expired.
On Thursday morning, The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley reported that Albion’s deal to re-sign Krovinovic is “very close” with the playmaker set to sign a new contract at Benfica before heading back to the Black Country on a straight loan.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Chelsea on Saturday, Bilic shared an update on Krovinovic with the media.
“I expect Filip will be with us by the end of the weekend. It’s another loan,” said Bilic, as quoted by Birmingham Mail journalist Joe Chapman via his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

West Brom fans have been waiting for a long time to hear that Krovinovic is on his way back to The Hawthorns, which means that all of the club’s loanees of last season have been re-signed by Bilic.
Unfortunately, it’s not ideal that Krovinovic is only coming back to the Baggies on another season-long loan because the ball is going to be in Benfica’s court yet again next summer when this temporary deal expires.
But Benfica have been tough to deal with and Bilic has made it very clear that he wants Krovinovic back in his squad for the new Premier League season.
It’s hard to see where he fits in the side with Bilic playing a 3-4-3 formation in the club’s opening two league matches but Krovinovic’s return might lead to that changing.
In other West Brom news, the club has missed out on another striker target.
