Slaven Bilic has requested that West Brom owner Guochuan Lai release more transfer funds, as the Baggies look to kick start their season.

Following defeat at the hands of Brentford in the EFL Cup, West Brom have now only won one of their four competitive games this season, with their sole victory coming against Harrogate Town of League Two.

West Brom’s performances have highlighted the fact that reinforcements are needed at the Hawthorns before the transfer window slams shut on October 5.

After Tuesday’s loss to Brentford, Baggies boss Bilic told Birmingham Live that he hopes his recruitment team will be supported in the final days of the transfer window. Bilic said, “Hopefully, everybody knows we need a couple more players and we are doing everything to get them.

“I hope our owners recognise the situation and help us to get there.”

The report says that the players Bilic is attempting to sign are Karlan Grant, who remains the club’s ‘primary target’, and Filip Krovinovic, who is being targeted by other European clubs.

Birmingham Live also report that there are expected to be departures at the Hawthorns reporting that, “winger Kamil Grosicki and striker Kenneth Zohore are two such players who could find pastures new before October’s deadline”.

If West Brom are to have a chance at Premier League survival, they need to secure the services of a Premier League quality striker, with both Swansea’s Andre Ayew and Rennes’ Mbaye Niang recently linked with a move to the Hawthorns, like Huddersfield’s Grant.

The Baggies’ two Premier League goals this season came against Everton, with wingers Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana finding the net.

While they are two quality players who will get goals this season, their primary job as wingers is to feed a central attacker, something West Brom lack at the moment.

Callum Robinson has started up front in both Premier League games but struggled to assert himself against the defences of Leicester and Everton, highlighting Bilic’s need for a forward with Premier League experience.
