Mark Lawrenson has predicted that West Brom will fall to their third defeat in as many games on Saturday as they welcome Chelsea to the Hawthorns.
The BBC pundit has backed the away team to win 2-0 but admitted that there is no need to panic for the Baggies just yet.
West Brom are currently rock bottom in the Premier League but haven’t had the easiest starts after promotion from the Championship.
Lawrenson claimed that Slaven Bilic will find out more about his squad when they entertain teams in a similar position to them later in the season.
“The Baggies have lost their first two games, and conceded eight goals already,” he wrote for BBC Sports.
“Things are not going to be any easier this time, but the only thing I would say in their defence is that in Leicester, Everton and now Chelsea, they have started their season by playing three teams who will probably finish in the top eight.
“It has been a very tough start for Slaven Bilic’s side, so there is no need to panic if they are still without a point after this game. We will find out more about them when they play teams who are likely to be around them near the bottom of the table.”
Frank Lampard has spent hundreds of millions in this transfer window and will arrive in the midlands with a completely different squad to last season.
Lawrenson is spot on with his verdict. The Baggies have come up against three sides that will likely finish in the top-eight already, and results weren’t exactly expected.
The upcoming games against the likes of Southampton, Burnley and Fulham are where we will find out more about West Brom, and they must start to pick up points from those.
