‘Bright prospect’ – Morrison hails promising West Brom talent
Clinton Morrison has hailed West Brom winger Grady Diangana as a “bright prospect”.
The 22-year-old was involved in one of the more heated transfer sagas of the summer, with many associated with his former club West Ham openly voicing their displeasure at him being sold to the Baggies.
Among those who expressed their malcontent was captain Mark Noble, who claimed he was “gutted, angry and sad” about the decision.
And Morrison has admitted that he can see why the Hammers were so disappointed by Diangana’s exit.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday (September 26th, Sky Sports News, 12pm), he said: “Obviously, all the West Ham fans were angry about Grady Diangana being sold.
“I can understand why because I think he’s a bright prospect.
“But they [West Ham] need to raise funds. There’s no money.
“They’ve spent big on Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Sebastien Haller – these players needs to start and deliver.”
To say that Diangana is a bright prospect is a bit of an understatement.
In fact, you could probably argue that the winger is beyond being a prospect at this stage.
His stunning goal against Everton last weekend proved that he is more than capable of cutting it in the Premier League, and you can’t help feeling that the axis of him and Matheus Pereira is going to be absolutely critical if Albion are to avoid the drop this term.
So far this season, his pass completion rate is 5.9% higher than it was in the Championship, while his dribble success rate is also superior, and his shot accuracy stands at 100%, as per Wyscout.
Those steady improvements are incredibly promising, and if he can keep it up, he could be a shining light for West Brom this season.
