Jason Cundy has claimed that West Brom cannot afford to lose against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The Baggies have lost their opening two games convincingly against both Everton and Leicester, and this game on paper is even harder.
Those results have seen the Albion sit rock-bottom in the Premier League, although panic shouldn’t have set in just yet.
The talkSPORT pundit made the controversial game despite the Baggies only playing two of their 38 games this season so far.
“These are must not lose games,” he said on talkSPORT.
“You get into the bottom three, West Brom are down there, Fulham are down there.
“I’ve seen teams live in there. It’s like quicksand.
“I’m talking Fulham, I’m talking West Bromwich Albion – they’re the teams (that must not lose).”
We understand what Cundy is saying, but we also believe that there are more important games than this one in the next month for the Baggies.
Slaven Bilic will have bookmarked the fixtures against the likes of Burnley, Southampton, Brighton and Fulham in the next month as games where he will demand points.
There is no hiding the fact that three points against Chelsea would give the Albion the perfect boost of confidence going into those other fixtures in the next month.
Compare that to Leeds, who will be playing the likes of Manchester City and Wolves, and we could be at a similar stage to the Whites, who have been labelled as a guarantee to avoid the drop, not bad?
