Bilic confirms new West Brom signing should be done by end of play Sunday

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has repeated his desire to sign a striker before the closure of the transfer window and said a new deal for Filip Krovinovic should be done by the end of the weekend.

Signing a striker this summer has been a priority for West Brom, but with just over a week until the transfer window closes the Baggies are still yet to agree a deal for a forward.

Callum Robinson has filled in as a forward in all three of West Brom’s Premier League games this term, and managed to register his first goals of the season against Chelsea on Saturday, scoring a brace.

Following West Brom’s 3-3 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, Bilic confirmed that Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic is close to re-joining the Baggies, and reiterated his hopes that the club will sign ‘another one’, to give his side a ‘good chance’ this season.

Speaking to the Express and Star Bilic said, “We don’t have a huge budget that is why we are trying to be creative and lucky, that’s not easy but we are trying. Hopefully, Filip Krovinovic will be here by the end of the weekend.

“I am expecting him to start training with us after we play Chelsea. I have been assured by the director he will come. Phase one done. And then hopefully we will get another one. We have to do it to maintain a good chance.”

West Brom have been linked with a whole host of strikers this summer, with the preferred option for the Baggies being Huddersfield’s Karlan Grant, who is reportedly keen on the move.

Slaven Bilic said before the Chelsea game that he was now considering Callum Robinson as a striker, rather than a winger. This decision paid off against Chelsea, but that statement could have been interpreted as an admission from Bilic that West Brom may be unable to secure the services of a new striker.

It will serve as some relief to Baggies fans that he has again stated that he wants to sign a striker who can hopefully score the vital goals to keep West Brom in the Premier League.

Callum Robinson has proved that he can cut it as a striker, but should he get injured, Bilic would have to rely on Hal Robson-Kanu or Charlie Austin.

Hopefully, there will be some movement from West Brom in the transfer window soon, but things will have to happen quickly if they are to get any deals over the line before the October 5 deadline.
