Substantial loan offer tabled for West Brom 26-year-old – report
Sheffield Wednesday have had a long-standing interest in signing West Brom forward Kenneth Zohore in this window.
The Owls have been linked for months now, with Garry Monk keeping quiet on links with the Danish forward, who is free to leave the Hawthorns with Charlie Austin.
Yorkshire Live reported that Sheffield Wednesday have been in discussions with the Baggies, but wages could be a problem at Hillsborough.
Those talks have progressed, with the Express and Star reporting that Wednesday have eventually tabled a loan offer for Zohore.
The local outlet have claimed on their website that the move would see the Championship club pay a “substantial” portion of the 26-year-old’s wages.
Alan Nixon initially cast doubt on the potential move, with the wages a massive hindrance – something which suggests if accepted, the Baggies will still be paying a chunk of Zohore’s wages next season.
Slaven Bilic is clearly in the market for another forward in this market.
Callum Robinson and Hal Robson-Kanu are the only two strikers being utilised in the Premier League, with Austin and Zohore surely surplus-to-requirements.
Even Austin has been used in the Carabao Cup against Harrogate – something Zohore wasn’t used in, which is a massive indicator of where he is at the Hawthorns.
The Dane only made 17 appearances in the Championship last season, 12 of those off the bench, and it is clear that he is not wanted in the midlands and an exit is surely on the cards this week.
