West Brom make major final bid to sign striker – reliable journalist

West Brom have made a major final bid in their efforts to sign Huddersfield forward Karlan Grant, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist has reported on his personal Twitter account that the structure of the deal could be described as odd, but could still work.

Grant is yet to feature for the Terriers in the Championship this season and is rated at around £16million by Carlos Corberan.

Most of the Baggies summer budget was spent on bringing Grady Diangana, so this offer will most likely be through instalments and add-ons for the 22-year-old.

The fact that West Brom have reportedly put other foreign options on hold could suggest that they are confident with what they have offered for Grant.

Grant has remained the number one striker target throughout this window, and the Huddersfield forward is said to be keen on a switch to the Hawthorns.

Now that the payment could be sorted, it appears that the final hurdle may have been cleared by Albion who could finally have their man.

Who else was Bilic looking at?

Other options in Europe mainly included Rennes forward M’Baye Niang.

It was also Nixon who first reported that West Brom were haggling over a loan fee for the Senegalese forward, who wanted Premier League football this season.

The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that talks had stalled with the Ligue 1 club though, with that deal now looking highly unlikely.

That same report claimed that Troy Deeney of Watford remained a serious option for the Baggies on loan, despite the Albion clearly wanting more pace in the final third.

Now that the deal for Grant looks close, hopefully, the links with the likes of Deeney will start to fade away, fingers crossed we have our man.
