West Brom in advanced talks to sign centre-forward – report

West Brom have entered ‘advanced talks’ with Huddersfield Town over a move for striker Karlan Grant according to the Daily Mail.

Grant has been on West Brom’s radar all summer but so far the Baggies have been unable to agree a deal with Huddersfield due to their depleted transfer budget.

The Daily Mail are reporting that a ‘compromise is now close’ between the two clubs with Friday’s transfer deadline drawing nearer.

The report also says that West Brom have been trying to strike a deal based on ‘an initial loan with payment terms based around instalments’, as the Baggies try to get creative with what little transfer budget they have left.

This will come as a huge relief to Baggies fans who were perhaps concerned that their club may face Burnley without a first-team striker available to Slaven Bilic.

Hal Robson-Kanu is injured and Callum Robinson may miss the game due to self-isolating after coming into close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Grant would play in next Monday’s Premier League fixture against Burnley, but if he signs before Friday’s deadline and he is the only striker available then he would surely be dropped straight into the starting 11 by Bilic.

As the domestic transfer window draws to a close it seems that West Brom are more likely than ever to get the man who has been linked with a move to the Hawthorns all summer. Grant has the potential to be a hugely important player at West Brom as Baggies fans will look to him to score the goals that will keep their side in the English top flight.
