Medical tomorrow: West Brom on verge of major new signing - John Percy
West Brom are on the verge of signing Karlan Grant from Huddersfield with the striker set to undergo a medical with the Baggies tomorrow (Thursday), according to John Percy.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday, the Telegraph journalist reported that Albion have agreed a deal worth around £15million and joked that talks have been ongoing since 1986.
Update on #wba and Karlan Grant. Terms of a transfer worth around £15m have been agreed and Grant will have a medical on Thursday. Clubs have been in talks since late 1986 (feels like it anyway). Slaven Bilic’s No 1 striker target ✅ #htafc

West Brom have taken their time in securing a deal for 23-year-old Grant, who seems as though he has been Slaven Bilic’s top striker target ever since that promotion-winning 2-2 draw against QPR on the final day of last season.
Albion have struggled without an out-and-out striker in their starting line-up in the opening four matches of the Premier League season with Bilic calling upon Callum Robinson to start in that role each time.
Robinson, to his credit, did score twice in the 3-3 against Chelsea but has not really looked as though he can be a regular goalscorer in any other match.
Grant is proven, to a degree, in the Premier League after scoring four goals in 13 top-flight appearances for Huddersfield in the second half of the 2018/19 season.
The former Charlton striker also helped keep the Terriers in the Championship last season by netting 19 goals in 43 league appearances.
He easily outscored every West Brom player last season in the second-tier and is likely to be the club’s top scorer this term too if Bilic and his coaches can get him up to speed without him missing too many matches.
Grant hasn’t played for Huddersfield since the end of last season so he could be rusty.
But, with Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore linked with exits, Hal Robson-Kanu suffering a broken arm and Robinson forced into self-isolation, Bilic might have no choice but to start Grant on Monday against Burnley.
In other West Brom news, Albion are in advanced talks to sell this player.
