West Brom reach ‘broad agreement’ in bid to sign new striker – Steve Madeley
Athletic journalist Steve Madeley has said that a deal that would see Karlan Grant move to West Brom is ‘edging closer’ as Friday’s transfer deadline approaches, with a broad agreement reached on numbers.
Grant has been linked with a move to the Hawthorns all summer and it seems as if negotiations are still happening as Friday’s transfer deadline approaches.
Now, Athletic journalist Steve Madeley said on his personal Twitter account that there is ‘growing confidence’ that a deal will be completed by Friday’s deadline and said that Huddersfield and West Brom are still ‘negotiating the structure’ of the potential deal.
This follows a report from the Daily Mail that said the two clubs were in ‘advanced negotiations’ for the English striker.
The fact that Madely stated that there is an agreement over the numbers that are involved the deal, suggests that the Terriers and the Albion have overcome the biggest hurdle that the potential transfer has faced.
How the potential fee would be paid seemed to be the reason why talks stalled for Grant earlier in the transfer window, but with this update, that issue seems to have been resolved.
The sooner the Baggies bring Grant in the better, as they may potentially face Burnley without a first-team striker with Premier League minutes this season. Hal Robson-Kanu is out injured and Callum Robinson may have to isolate after being in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
With a deal for Grant looking more likely than ever, Baggies fans will be hoping that he is available to face the Clarets on Monday night, so they can see their new man in action.
