Kenneth Zohore’s transfer from West Brom to Sheffield Wednesday is ‘off at this stage’, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old striker has been linked with a move back to the Championship since the end of last season and it seemed he would no longer be an Albion player after Friday’s 5pm transfer deadline.
But the report from the Daily Mail simply states that his proposed move to Hillsborough is dead in the water. There is no information on why this is the case or how it could affect the Baggies’ other transfer business.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Zohore’s transfer may have some bearing on the Baggies’ attempts to bring Karlan Grant to the Hawthorns, with it being suggested that the Dane and Charlie Austin needed to be shifted before Grant could come in.
It remains to be seen how important the Zohore aspect is in the Grant deal. Baggies fans will be hoping that if Zohore remains a West Brom player, the Baggies will still have the funds to bring in Grant from Huddersfield.
Grant looks set to be a West Brom player before Friday’s deadline and he could be the only first-team striker available to Slaven Bilic when the Baggies return to Premier League action against Burnley on Monday night.
Callum Robinson is likely to miss the game after coming into close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and Hal Robson-Kanu will also be unavailable for some time after breaking his arm in Albion’s last Premier League outing against Southampton.
This could mean Grant is given his first start for his new club just days after joining and West Brom fans will be hoping he can hit the ground running and help his new side to a first Premier League win of the season.
In other West Brom news, some international fans were impressed with a Baggies man’s debut.
