West Brom defender Cedric Kipre has not enjoyed a great start to life at the Hawthorns this season in the Premier League.
The Ivorian enforcer arrived from Wigan on the cheap after the League One side suffered from financial problems.
Kipre’s only performances have come in the Carabao Cup, and the 23-year-old was once again not named on the bench against Brighton on Monday.
Writing on the Birmingham Live website, Joseph Chapman has claimed that the defender could actually leave the Hawthorns in January.
“Bartley is the next cab off the rank, with Cedric Kipre out of contention and likely to be available for a loan move in January,” he said.
“Dara O’Shea is still proving to be Bilic’s utility man back there.”
O’Shea wasn’t in the squad to face Brighton either, so it appears that Slaven Bilic has yet to find a solid position for either of those in his squad so far.
Bilic was distraught over the sale of Ahmed Hegazi over the weekend, so it seems as though another defender leaving wouldn’t be a smart decision.
With Semi Ajayi partnering Branislav Ivanovic at the AMEX Stadium, and Kyle Bartley on the bench, Kipre is far down the pecking order.
O’Shea can also play there as mentioned, so that would place the Ivorian atleast fifth in the rankings in the heart of defence.
Should Bilic go back to his five-at-the-back formation, Kipre could definitely be needed, but if not, this would be the smartest decision to let him leave the Hawthorns temporarily.
