‘Ridiculously good’ – These West Brom fans praise ‘beast’ who was ‘immense’ v Spurs
Plenty of West Brom fans were keen to praise defender Semi Ajayi after he delivered an “immense” display in their defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
An 88th minute goal from Harry Kane earned the 1-0 victory for Spurs and left the Baggies 18th in the table with just three points from eight matches.
However, with boss Slaven Bilic using a 5-3-2 formation, Ajayi impressed at centre-back winning five tackles and making four interceptions.
He was also far more impressive on the ball than his central defensive partners, with Dara O’Shea and Kyle Bartley completing 65% and 63% of their passes respectively. Ajayi, by comparison, completed 82% of his 34 attempts (via WhoScored).
Ajayi’s display wasn’t enough to get a point from the game but it should have been.
Unfortunately, West Brom were scuppered by one of the best strikers in the world – the real difference between the two sides on Sunday.
However, it was a step in the right direction.
After the match, lots of West Brom fans went to Twitter to offer praise for the Nigerian, with one even going as far as describing him as “world class”.
