Owen Windsor has claimed he wants to jump into the West Brom first-team as quickly as possible after his loan with Grimsby.
The young striker is plying his trade for the Mariners under Ian Holloway, and he has admitted that the manager is helping him massively.
Windsor caught the eye of Albion fans after sharing a clip of him racing the length of the pitch and winning a penalty against Leyton Orient.
Speaking in an interview for the official Albion website, Windsor set out his goals loud and clear for his future at the Hawthorns.
“The ultimate scenario would be to make my way into the first team at West Brom,” he said.
“That’s the goal and if I can do that earlier then great but if not and I have to go on another loan to work my way up and earn my stripes in a way to get into the West Brom first team then that’s what I’ll do but the aim is to get there as quickly as possible.”
Slaven Bilic will be keeping a close eye on all of his youngsters out on loan.
The Baggies have handed them great chances to go out into the football league, and it has certainly benefitted them.
In terms of the pecking order, Callum Morton is already one season ahead of Windsor and is now with Lincoln in League One after shining for Northampton last year.
Morton has picked up injuries though this season, and that could affect his development. When on the pitch though, he’s scored frequently, and Windsor must use that as his motivation.
Goals get you noticed, and the young striker needs to continue finding the back of the net before returning to the Baggies.
