Sky Sports share update on Dara O’Shea as ROI duo test positive for COVID after Wales clash

West Brom defender Dara O’Shea has tested negative for COVID-19 despite another outbreak in the Republic of Ireland camp.

Matt Doherty and James McClean have both followed Callum Robinson in testing positive for the virus since the start of last week.

Both players started the Nations League clash with Wales alongside O’Shea, who doesn’t appear to have been affected after the 1-0 defeat.

Sky Sports shared the update on Monday, claiming that O’Shea and the rest of the Irish squad will go on to play their match with Bulgaria on Wednesday.

Stephen Kenny and the squad flew back to Dublin on Monday morning and confirmed that they have been isolated from both Doherty and McClean ever since the news broke.

With Doherty now missing, it appears highly likely that O’Shea will start that game against Bulgaria, and will look to build on his showing in Cardiff.

The 21-year-old has had great exposure this week, also featuring against England, and this step-up in competition will only help him improve.

Baggies boost

After Robinson tested positive last week, it would have been a blow if both of our Irish representatives were to come back and be forced into isolation.

O’Shea should be in perfect shape if he gets through the Bulgaria clash unscathed on Wednesday, and there could be more good news.

The Express and Star reported that if Robinson gets through the next three days feeling better, he should be back in training ahead of the Manchester United clash.

With Matheus Pereira and Branislav Ivanovic also returning, Slaven Bilic should have a fully-fit squad available to him at Old Trafford.
