West Brom’s chances against Manchester United this weekend have not been helped by the news that Alex Telles could make his return at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian defender has been rarely seen since arriving from FC Porto over the summer after testing positive for COVID-19, but according to the Express, he could feature for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this weekend.
Despite his lack of game time this season, Telles could be drafted straight back into the United side with Luke Shaw suffering an injury against Everton before the international break.
Telles’ addition to the side gives West Brom an added danger to fear on Saturday night. The Brazilian picked up a reputation for being one of the more attacking and adventurous full-backs in Europe following his exploits in the Portuguese league. While fans are yet to see the best of him in the Premier League, he has an impressive 29 goals and 66 career assists to his name.
With Marcus Rashford starting from the left on five occasions this season, the potential partnership that could develop between the two players is a worrying one for Slaven Bilic’s side.
During Telles’ single Manchester United appearance this season against Paris Saint-Germain, he made three key passes, so it would come as no surprise to see the home side utilise the Brazilian’s attacking nature on Saturday. Compared to Luke Shaw, who has just one league assist all season, Telles represents a much more attacking option down the left for United.
Telles’ potential inclusion certainly gives Slaven Bilic something to think about and being away from home, the Baggies boss may be tempted to sacrifice the technical brilliance of Matheus Pereira on this occasion for somebody more industrious on the right flank.
In other West Brom news, West Brom loanee yet to return to training with fresh setback suffered.
