West Brom went into their game with Manchester United looking for their first Premier League win of the season.

Slaven Bilic made four changes to his side, with Branislav Ivanovic and Matheus Pereira returning after recovering from COVID-19.

Jake Livermore did miss out, but it was another familiar face who kept them in the game during the first half at Old Trafford.

Sam Johnstone was returning to his old stomping ground, and he looked like a man on a mission at times.

The keeper was called into action numerous times, but none better than the save he made to deny Anthony Martial when it looked easier to score.

It’s something that has become familiar this season, with the stopper really stepping up when the pressure has been against the Baggies.

An uncharacteristic mistake against Spurs last time out led to some unnecessary criticism, but once again he gave them a reminder of what he can do.

Johnstone will be key to any success this season, and he continues to prove that with each performance between the sticks.

Many West Brom fans were delighted with Johnstone and showered him in praise during the first half at Old Trafford.

Some were concerned that he is being forced into action too much, but he is earning their player of the season so far vote with ease at this stage.
