‘All day long’ – Pundit tips West Brom to make move for PL striker with 0 goals in 20/21
Dean Windass has tipped West Brom to target Newcastle United forward Andy Carroll in the upcoming January window.
The pundit and Hull City legend believes that Sam Allardyce should be considering a move for Carroll, who has struggled at St James’ Park.
Having numerous injury problems, the 31-year-old has only started twice this season, making a further five substitute appearances.
Speaking to Football FanCast, Windass believes that the Baggies have nothing to lose by targeting the colossal target-man next month.
“I take him all day long – why not? What you have you got to lose? The only thing with Andy is, can you keep him fit?
“Listen, I’d have Andy Carroll all day long. Fitness is the only problem.”
This may be the most bizarre take we have heard yet, and it is certainly not the answer to surviving the drop this season.
Carroll has failed to hit the target once in his 211 minutes of action this season and would command £75,000-a-week wages according to Spotrac.
Karlan Grant is struggling, and could definitely do with the help this season.
The answer to a striker who can’t score is definitely not to bring in another one who would simply just add to those problems at the Hawthorns.
Carroll is just a walking injury waiting to happen, and Allardyce needs players who can stand up and be counted between now and the end of the season.
The veteran forward has only been successful with 25% of his dribbles according to WyScout and loses the ball 16.21 times per 90 minutes.
All of these stats are glaring examples of why the Baggies should certainly ignore this advice, and look elsewhere next month.
