‘I’ll pay the taxi fare; 100% sell’ – Some rival fans urge West Brom to sign £75k/wk ace in Jan

Plenty of Newcastle United supporters would be eager to see Andy Carroll leave the club in January, amid rumours of a potential move to West Brom.

Several media outlets, including The Sun, have linked the Baggies with a January move to sign Carroll.

The former West Ham forward is out of favour at St James’ Park this season and has only featured seven times in the Premier League.

Carroll is a player that Allardyce will know well, having worked with the former England international previously.

West Brom have only scored 10 times in the Premier League this season, only Burnley and Sheffield United have found the back of the net on fewer occasions.

That means a striker is going to be high on the list of priorities for Big Sam next month, with Everton forward Cenk Tosun and Ahmed Musa also being linked with a move to the Hawthorns.

Carroll has struggled for consistency at Newcastle since making his return to the club in 2019, as a result of both injuries and limited game time.

According to Sportac, the striker is earning around £75,000 per week at the club, so shifting him off the wage bill could help Steve Bruce bring in new additions in January.

Rather alarmingly for West Brom supporters, these Newcastle fans have been reacting to the reports on social media.

Here are some of the best reactions, with many not exactly disheartened about the prospect of the striker leaving the club.
