‘Behave’, ‘No thanks’ – Some West Brom fans react to Athletic transfer update on frozen out star
West Brom have been linked with a January loan move to sign out-of-favour French defender Mamadou Sakho from Crystal Palace.
According to The Athletic, Sam Allardyce is eager to sign the former Liverpool man, having previously snapped him up for Crystal Palace during his time at Selhurst Park.
Allardyce beat then-Albion manager Tony Pulis to Sakho’s signature, with the Frenchman snubbing a move to the Hawthorns in favour of Palace back.
After a successful loan spell in London, Sakho would go on to join the Eagles permanently in 2017 for a reported £26million.
The French defender, who earns a reported £100,000 per week, has since fallen out of favour under Roy Hodgson and is out of contract in the summer.
Sakho has only started three times in the Premier League this season and has failed to impress when given the chance, with an average 6.06 WhoScored rating.
West Brom have the worst defensive record in the league, despite reinforcing their backline over the summer.
Both Branislav Ivanovic and Cedric Kipre joined the club during the summer windows, although the latter has failed to make an appearance in the Premier League.
After impressing in the Championship with Wigan, Kipre was handed the opportunity to step up into the top-flight but has been limited to just two League Cup appearances.
These West Brom fans have been reacting to the transfer links on social media and it is fair to say that most are not that impressed.
