West Brom lining up move to sign 10-goal striker, club ready to sell £12.5m-rated ace – report
West Brom and Brighton are both reportedly lining up moves to sign Reims striker Boulaye Dia.
According to The Athletic, a deal to sign the striker from the Ligue 1 club could cost somewhere in the region of £12.5million this month.
Dia has been in red hot form for the French side this season, scoring 10 goals in 15 league starts.
It is claimed that Lyon are also interested in the striker having previously turned down the chance to sign him earlier in his career.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Marseille have also been credited with an interest in recent weeks.
The report adds that Reims are ready to sell the player amid rising cash-flow issues.
Dia ready to take his next step
Dia’s rather impressive first half of the season has come at just the right time, with the January window now open.
Only Kylian Mbappe has scored more goals (12) this season than Dia in Ligue 1, which speaks volumes of the form he is in.
That form is not going unnoticed, with fellow Senegalese star and Liverpool forward Sadio Mane tipping him for a big move in the future.
Dia could certainly fit into Allardyce’s plans and offer him some versatility in attack.
Of the 10 goals he has scored this season, four have come when starting in wider positions and six when playing centrally, according to Transfermarkt.
Allardyce is said to be after a new striker this month, but the Baggies have also been linked with wide players in recent weeks – so Dia could be an opportunity to tick both boxes.
