Sam Allardyce admits 26-year-old could be given second chance at West Brom
Sam Allardyce has admitted that Kenneth Zohore could be given a second chance at West Brom after his loan spell at Millwall.
The Danish forward has suffered from injury problems this season, but returned and scored in the Lions’ FA Cup victory against Boreham Wood.
Zohore is set to return to the Hawthorns this month, but the Baggies still have the clause to send him back out on loan for the remainder of the season.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Allardyce admitted that he will use this chance to assess the quality of Zohore before making a decision.
“With my shortage of front-men at the moment, we’re going to have to speak to Luke and the back-room staff who were here before on the quality of the player, and whether we make that decision to call him back at this moment in time,” he said.
“It’s until we have an opportunity to bring someone in on the front-line ourselves, which may mean we give him an opportunity if he comes back in and we throw him on, and we see what he can do.”
Zohore hasn’t had the best of times at the Hawthorns, but surely things couldn’t get any worst in the final third here.
Karlan Grant is currently ruled out through injury, Charlie Austin has left on loan, and Callum Robinson is our only senior forward available.
The 26-year-old has only scored three goals in his 17 appearances for the Baggies, and only managed five outings at the Den, this could be the catalyst to his resurgence.
Obviously, Allardyce has admitted he wants to bring in one, possibly two strikers, but things haven’t progressed on that front.
Zohore may be the only option.
