West Brom secured what could be a vital three points for the Albion with a 3-2 win against local rivals Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
Matheus Pereira gave the Albion a surprise first-half lead following a foul on Callum Robinson inside the box.
Fabio Silva equalised for the home side during the final stages of the first half, in what was a goal that could have been easily avoided.
In a matter of minutes, the game turned and Willy Bolly’s header gave the hosts the lead before half time.
An early second-half goal from Semi Ajayi put Albion right back into the game before Pereira scored his second penalty of the match to put his side back into the lead.
Here are the West Brom News player ratings from the game.
David Button – 6
Looked a bit nervy to begin with, as Wolves played plenty of balls into the box. However, he soon settled and having been thrown into the starting XI, he made a respectable number of saves.
Dara O’Shea – 5
Wolves’ natural instinct to attack down their right meant that O’Shea did not really have too much to deal with initially. Should have been stronger to stop Fabio Silva.
Semi Ajayi – 7
Did well to limit the room that young Fabio Silva had available to him. Scored a very well-taken header early in the second half. It was something Albion tried a few times and he could be a huge threat in the coming weeks from similar positions.
Kyle Bartley – 8
Lead brilliantly from the back and West Brom looked much better with him in the team. You wonder if Ivanovic can get back into the side following that performance. Made a stunning body-on-the-line block late on.
Kieran Gibbs – 5
Struggled up against Adama Traore, who got past him time and time again, but luckily, the Spaniard did not punish Albion.
Robert Snodgrass – 7
Added some noticeable energy into the West Brom attack and looked to make things happen early on. Linked up nicely with Pereira. Positive signs for Albion.
Jake Livermore – 5
Got caught in two minds as he tried to clear the corner that resulted in Willy Boly’s goal and it really left Albion with no hope.
Romaine Sawyers – 6
Sawyers was not involved a tremendous amount, partly down to Wolves lack of threat through the middle.
Kamil Grosicki – 6
Certainly did not look like a player who has been on the sidelines for weeks on end. Could be a player who sees more game time in the weeks to come after a respectable showing.
Matheus Pereira – 8
Nice and cool from the spot to give West Brom the lead in the first half and then the second. Defensively, he, like O’Shea should have been stronger to stop Silva.
Callum Robinson – 7
A willing runner as ever and did brilliantly to win two penalties. While often on the shoulder, he was more than happy to drop deep and defend as well.
More of the same from Robinson and West Brom will have more than a fighting chance.
Hal Robson-Kanu – 6
A willing runner late on but otherwise could not impact the game as the Baggies held on for a valuable three points.
Darnell Furlong – N/A
