A section of West Brom fans were less than impressed by Romaine Sawyers’ first-half performance against West Ham on Tuesday night.
Sawyers, 29, was handed his 11th consecutive Premier League start by Sam Allardyce at the London Stadium with the ex-Brentford ace playing in the midfield alongside Jake Livermore.
Ever since returning to The Hawthorns, the Albion academy graduate has struggled to win over fans with his performances and it seems that was the case yet again in East London.
Little happened at either end of the pitch in the opening 45 minutes at the London Stadium until Jarrod Bowen scored for West Ham on the stroke of half-time.
West Ham struggled to threaten a leaky West Brom defence until then, while the Albion shows their attacking pitfalls by not really making the home side’s rearguard break a sweat.
Sawyers didn’t break a sweat either, in the eyes of some Albion fans on Twitter.
The St Kitts & Nevis international is regularly criticised for hie effort on the pitch and lack of urgency.
And that was the case yet again at West Ham, with one supporter saying he’s “utterly useless“.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
If Romaine Sawyers is told the gate is closing and he needs to hurry for his flight, you just know he takes his time, grabs a coffee on the way, pops to the toilet, check his phone…#WHUWBA

God Sawyers is awful, what does he need to do for Sam to take him out? #WHUWBA

Sawyers has to be out of the team, has no urgency or anything, he’s utterly useless

Has Sawyers struggled this season in the Premier League? Yes, he has.
But we didn’t see much too wrong with his opening half at West Ham on Tuesday night. In fact, none of the Albion players looked too out of place away at the Hammers.
Let’s hope they play better in the second half.
Since Allardyce’s arrival at the Black Country club, they’ve played a lot better in the second half as they did at Liverpool and West Ham.
Hopefully Sawyers can prove some doubters wrong.
In other West Brom news, the Albion are in talks to sign an in-form striker.

Strange. Makes you wonder where these fans come from. He actually scored the same points as Pereira on Birmingham Live. Pereira was Albions MOM according to them. So Sawyers wasn’t that bad was he.
