West Brom fell to a narrow defeat against West Ham on Tuesday night but the game was overshadowed by the omission of Robert Snodgrass.
His absence in the starting line-up took many Albion fans by surprise and it was revealed that the Premier League are investigating the circumstances behind Snodgrass’ exclusion.
The Scot made a move to The Hawthorns from West Ham earlier this month, and it seems the two clubs agreed that he would not be involved in their fixture.
Some supporters have speculated that Premier League rules have been broken, with suggestions that the club may be punished.
However, since only West Ham were the beneficiaries from this, some Albion fans believe only the East London club deserve to be reprimanded.
Who benefited with snodgrass not playing west ham did so I dont see why we should be done for it #wba

The Premier league issue if any should be with West Ham not us ..

Surely the fair thing to do would to give us the 3 points 🤷🏻♂️😂

Nevertheless, there are some amongst the fanbase who are less than impressed with the actions of West Brom.
At the very least they feel the club could have made Snodgrass’s absence less obvious, by suggesting he was injured, for example.
It will be intriguing to see the outcome of the Premier League’s investigation, and if it has an impact on both parties in terms of a fine or even a points deduction.
Here is some of the reaction from Baggies supporters to the controversy.
What they gonna do to us give us a transfer ban 🤣🤣

My thoughts exactly. Albion would have wanted to play him without a doubt

A bit of nouse would have prevented this. Maybe Snodders having a slight strain following Wolves match. Game coming too soon etc. Not very streetwise.

If we agreed not to play Snodgrass , whoever conceded this should get the sack. We agreed not use a resource we have paid for and are paying wages too. A dead asset on #WHU wage bill. Shame on whoever agreed that. Poor negotiating to the point of negligence

If we get punished for the Snodgrass deal, if it isn't a fine its a points deduction, meaning we are definitely relegated.

If we get fined for the Snodgrass transfer, then Luke Dowling will offer to pay it in instalments 😆 #WBA
