West Brom handed big injury boost ahead of six-pointer v Fulham

West Brom have been handed a big boost ahead of their crunch fixture with Fulham at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, boss Sam Allardyce has stated Grady Diangana is fit and involved in training with the squad.

The Englishman will be back in contention for the Baggies, but most likely on the bench for this week.

“We’ve got Grady back training,” Allardyce confirmed.

Diangana joins Karlan Grant, Conor Townsend, Hal Robson-Kanu and Matt Phillips who have all been injured and missing recently.

The news comes at a fantastic time for Big Sam, who’s side are on a rapid decline and in need of attacking flair in the team.

Diangana, 22, was signed permanently in the summer from West Ham after an impressive 2019/20 loan campaign in the Championship.

He scored eight goals and assisted six in 30 appearances as the Baggies came second and won promotion. It was enough for former boss Slaven Bilic to pay £18m to make his deal a permanent one in the summer transfer window.

The winger has struggled to emulate last seasons form in the Premier League. He’s scored just once in 15 appearances and is yet to assist any.

Nonetheless, it’ll be a welcome sight for Big Sam to have him back. Despite his run of form this season, Diangana is a bright spark and will create chances.

He’ll be looking to get back into the team quickly as West Brom have some more favourable fixtures coming over the next few weeks.

Between now and March 13th, Allardyce’s men will face off against six sides from the bottom half of the table. Their next two fixtures are against fellow relegation strugglers Fulham and Sheffield United, simply must-win games at all costs.

The Baggies also have matches at home to Brighton and Newcastle, and away to Crystal Palace and Burnley in the coming week. It’s a crucial time in the fight for survival.
