'Wow, would be a great signing, 'OMG please' – Many Albion fans thrilled by big transfer update
West Brom have been linked with a move for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the last few days of the transfer window.
It’s left Albion fans excited and very hopeful that it will happen.
One of the big reasons for the excitement is that the story has come from an absolutely rock-solid source.
David Ornstein is a former BBC journalist who moved to The Athletic in 2019. He’s got strong links across the whole of the game but especially with Arsenal.
This isn’t some link from a spurious foreign source and while it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, it means the interest is genuine.
Albion fans are split into two camps over the move.
The first are desperate for it to happen, with one saying, “Wow, this would be a great signing” and another just saying, “OMG please”.
In the other camp, the fans are just as desperate for it to happen but don’t think we have a chance of pulling it off.
One said, “Would be a brilliant signing but it’s never going to happen!”
You can understand why some fans don’t think he would want to drop into a relegation battle, especially as Ornstein claims a current top-four side is interested.
However, if that doesn’t happen then the West Brom move could. It’s time to keep our fingers crossed.
